Dr Baumring is the only known person to have fully cracked W D Gann’s entire system. Dr Jerome Baumring was a pharmacologist by training, who had a keen interest in the financial markets. Indeed, in the 1970s and 1980s he was a partner in a bookshop in Los Angeles called “The Investment Centre”, which specialized in books on trading and investment. Baumring’s partner in this bookshop was someone called Donald Mack, an engineer by training. In 1977 Baumring and Mack published a booklet entitled “A Bibliography of Wall Street and the Stock Market”, which was an alphabetical listing of approximately 1,500 books on trading and investment.
In 1985 “The Investment Centre” bookshop announced that it would be organising a series of lectures by Baumring on the methods of William D. Gann (1878 to 1955). This announcement included a strong endorsement of Baumring from his business partner Donald Mack: “In our capacity as book suppliers to the world in our specialist area of stock & commodity books, we have met many who have been trying to fit together the pieces of the puzzle that is Gann. However, no one to our knowledge has come close to solving the mysteries inherent to the Gann methodology except for Dr Baumring whom we saw evolve from his initial introduction to Gann to a complete mastery some years later. So much so that we unequivocally state that he is the only person we know of that has solved every aspect that Gann wrote about”.
Although Mack stated that Baumring “is the only person we know of that has solved every aspect that Gann wrote about”, their bookshop was nevertheless careful (presumably for legal reasons) not to claim that these courses would reveal Gann’s actual method of forecasting the financial markets. More specifically, Baumring and Mack merely claimed that anyone completing the courses would have a well-developed analytical ability and forecasting basis: “No one should consider these courses….. to be the entire Gann process, but it will be a beginning to the understanding of the total. Nevertheless, on the completion of this basic course of instruction the knowledge gained from the proper study of it all should leave the earnest inquirer of market wisdom with an analytical ability and forecasting basis well ahead of others not knowledgeable in this material”.
